The Seasons in Abruzzo. In the winter we have cross-country and downhill skiing on the many local slopes, the most popular of which are centred around the ski resort of Roccaraso which has 130km of Alpine ski-slopes divided among 29 chair lift sites. And in the summer time we have 790 square miles of national and regional parks to explore, not to mention the miles and miles of beaches; the nearest of which are at Pescara forty minutes away. Images of Abruzzo. What shall we say about the region of Abruzzo? For one thing I suppose you could say we're a little spoilt here. We have three national parks and one regional park which altogether cover a third of the region and constitute 'Europe's Greenest Area'. We also have five lakes, three mountain ranges and 75 miles of coastline! Lovely beaches are within easy reach at Montesilvano, Pineto, Pescara and Francavilla, and the water is, ahh so warm. Summertime sees the season of the 'festa', every town and village has its own patron saint and associated celebrations. Dawn breaking over the Maiella mountains. Fireworks during the daytime - oh yes! Each festa is unique and generally involves lots of eating and drinking of local wines and speciality foods often followed by dancing late into the night. Why not come and experience a taste of Abruzzo yourselves, book today! This is a place that we hope to come back to. Thank so much for the wine - we enjoyed it and for some lovely days. Best wishes to you both. We enjoyed 2006 so much that we just had to return. We'd had a wonderful time with fantastic weather. Village very friendly and relaxing with beautiful views. Hope we can stay longer next time. Wonderful stay, simply not long enough. What a warm welcome from Clive and Paula - logs on the stove and flannelette sheets on the beds - couldn't ask for more... Hope to be back soon.
