Day trip to Alba Fucens

The ancient settlement of Alba Fucens dates back to the 4th C BC and is sited on a high plateau at 1020m. The outline of the city walls is still clearly visible covering a distance of approximately 3km.   Features that easily discerned include the polygonal construction of the walls, a line of three defensive walls which were probably built at a later date by the Romans and the numerous roads including the column lined Via dei Pilastri.   Alba Fucens is a must see!!

To arrive at Alba Fucens from MonteViste all you have to do is to simply join the autostrada at Pratola Peligna and head west towards Rome. After forty minutes or so you'll find yourself in the vicinty of Avezzano, take that turn off, head north following the signs for Massa and you'll be at Alba within ten minutes. Enjoy your day....
