The views on the slopes and from the mountain tops are simply stunning. Roccaraso has 15 ski lifts - a ski pass costs around €17 for the day. The slopes start at 1650m soaring up to a maximum altitude of 2140m asl at Toppe del Tesoro - accessible by cable car from Aremogna. If it doesn't snow don't worry, Roccaraso has excellent snow making machines. The skiing in and around Roccaraso is less frenetic than in the north, an all together more relaxing experience. There are over five hundred skiing instructors ready and waiting to help you and bring you on with your skiing skills. This skiing school is at Aremogna and is very well equipped. There are black, blue and red runs that you can access from here including Toppe del Tesoro. A weeks skiing in Abruzzo makes the perfect start to the New Year. In and around Roccaraso you can alternatively enjoy 60km of cross-country skiing through some of the most beautiful scenery the world has to offer. There is also extensive skiing available at Blockhaus on the Maiella. A smaller but very enjoyable skiing centre is to be found at Scanno - Passo Godi
The most important skiing region in central and southern Italy is in fact in Abruzzo, to be more precise it's concentrated around the mountains that surround the town of Roccaraso. In all, between Roccaraso and Rivisondoli, there are 110km of downhill skiing distributed over 47 pistes (trails) that are served by 15 lifts - 10 chair lifts, 5 surface lifts and 2 gondolas (cable-cars). Cross country skiing (sci di fondo) is also catered for running to 20km of routes through some of the most beautiful mountains in the world....
