Travelling to Italy...      Travel Insurance For Holiday Makers ...

What should your travel insurance policy cover you for?

Here is a list of the minimum points that should be included in any holiday insurance policy:

  • Medical and health cover against accidental injury or sudden illness abroad
  • Cancellation or curtailment cover (against having to cut short your holiday)
  • Personal liability cover in case you’re sued for causing injury to a third person or damaging someone else's property
  • 24 hour mother tongue emergency assistance
  • Extra cover for sports based activities that are commonly excluded from standard policies, such as skiing or diving
  • Cover for lost or stolen personal possessions
  • Common travel insurance policy exceptions

You should always check the list of conditions and exclusions forseen within your insurance policy:

  • Most policies will not cover you for accidents associated with drinking or the use of drugs
  • In the face of loss or theft due care and attention must be demonstrable on your part
  • Shopping around for your travel insurance

  • Rather than taking the risk and travelling without any insurance at all shop around for a policy that will suit your needs at a price that's right for you
  • Be aware of cheaper policies that will usually provide less cover. For some people the price is the most important aspect but at the end of the day is it worth the initial saving?
